About Me

Educational History:

West Monroe High School graduate

ULM graduate – 2008

Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

Licensed to teach in Louisiana

ACT certified tutor – English

Professional Development:

  • I have attended the Teacher Leader Conference in NOLA – I preferred it pre-COVID.
  • I am ACT certified to tutor English and Reading for the ACT test.
  • I have had the pleasure of attending Brian Mendler’s workshop twice.

Current Position:

Richwood High School

I began teaching at Richwood High School for the 2021-2022 school year. I teach English III and Technical Writing, and I absolutely adore teaching juniors. I plan on teaching many more years here at Richwood. I wasn’t looking for a family here, but I foind one.

Previous Position:

Caldwell Parish Junior High – Columbia, La. (2017 – 2021)

I taught 7th grade ELA at CPJH for a total of four school years. I fell in love with those babies, and I hated to leave them behind. I know they will do great things, and I plan on supporting them every step of the way. However, I needed to find a job closer to home, since I have my own kids that need their mom here.

Prior to teaching, I was a civil servant in social work with the state.

State of Louisiana / DCFS – Monroe, La. (2008 –2017)

I worked for DCFS for almost ten years. I was a Social Service Analyst II for the SNAP, FITAP, CCAP, and KCSP programs.

Family Information:

I am turning 44 in a few days. LEO here!!!

I am recently divorced, but I am not upset about that in the least. Sometimes our plans don’t work out because God has other plans in store for us. I am excited to see what’s ahead for me. The struggle has been real, but I have a great support system.

I have three children, but only one of them is still living at home. The other two have moved onto bigger and better things. My youngest, Lindsey, attends WMHS as a junior. She shares my birthday, so she will be 16 in a few days as well. While she does attend another school in the parish, she loves to come to Richwood games with me because we defintely have more fun than West Monroe. Not throwing shade.. just stating facts.

I look forward to working with all students, parents, and staff to endure we all have the best school year. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Personal Information:

Now that my children are older, I love to just hit the road and see where I end up. This summer, I went to Houston, Galveston, Lafayette, Memphis, Nashville, and Hot Springs I love being out in nature, but I do prefer to wait until the hottest part of the year has passed.

I am finding my crafty side, and I have made numerous tutus for our various dress up days. Most recently, I made my own hula skirt. Pintrest is my best friend when it comes to getting ideas, but the execution – whether good or bad – is all me.

Most recently, I began bowling again. I am absolutely terrible at it, but it’s a lot of fun. I wish we had a rage room around here. I would be there – everyday.
